    For a position of strategic importance, we are looking for a System Engineer with experience in space programs to be involved as Detector Unit Technical Manager. Specifically, the resource will represent the technical authority for the electro-optical discipline in the frame of Instrument Focal Plane System sub-project, and will be the technical responsible for the DU procurement and technical I/F towards the DU manufacturer/supplier/subcontractor. The resource will collaborate with the staff of an important partner in the aerospace and defence sector with more than 15,000 engineers and will be allocated to scientific research programmes commissioned by agencies such as ESA, ASI, etc. Main activities/ responsibilities: • Co-ordinate and support the technical tasks of the DU subcontractor to achieve successful DU reviews, deliverables in accordance with project requirements. • Guide the DU subcontractor during the execution of major DU reviews (MRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, reviews, decision gates). • Lead co-engineering/progress/weekly meetings the DU subcontractor. • Support the higher-level requirements flow-down from the customer towards the DU subcontractor. • Support the specification update, SOW update and corresponding Applicable Documents for the DU item. • Support the subcontractor of DU in the frame of technical Issue/NCR related to DU. • Support co-engineering/progress/weekly meetings for DU/FPS with the customer. • Support the Program Manager/Project Engineering Manager for the creation of Change Request towards the subcontractor and evaluation of technical response of Contract Change Notice from the subcontractor. Main Requirement: • Engineering degree (preferably, electronics or physics). • Attitude to work in industrial consortiums led by Agencies/Research Institutes. • Knowledge of the operating principle of optoelectronic devices (CCD, CMOS, photodiodes, MCT...). • System requirement definition and flow-down to relevant sub-system/units • Knowledge of relevant program documentation compatible with ECSS standard. • Ability to manage and follow-up sub-contractors. • Fluent in English. • Interdisciplinary / systems approach. Nice to have: • Experience with the electronic design and testing of DU Proximity Electronic is desirable. The position is in TUSCANY (ITALY). Willingness to travel in Europe is required (about 8-10 trip/year).
