For a position of strategic importance, we are looking for a System Engineer with experience in Payload Data Handling and Operation System Engineering, to be involved into the staff of an important partner in the aerospace and defence sector that boasts more than 15,000 engineers. Specifically, the resource will be involved as a Payload Functional System Engineer in the Electro-Optical Payload Area and will be assigned to one or more international space programmes. Main activities/ responsibilities: • Support activities for system design and testing. - Analysis and definition of Failure Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) functionalities, verification of their feasibility via HW and implementation via SW (e.g. using PUS services). - Acquisition of an in-depth knowledge of the architecture of the assigned payload, with particular attention to operational, internal and external I/F functionalities. - Definition of telecommand and telemetry to ensure observability and commandability of the instrument during testing and operational phase. - Development of test procedures for verification of functional aspects and support of procedures for performance tests. - Preparation of specifications and procedures for functional tests, execution of tests and preparation of test reports. - Preparation and maintenance of the flight operations manual, including the definition of flight operations procedures. - Support for HW and SW integration. - Contribution to updating the technical balance sheet and managing ICD and IRD data for internal data interfaces. - Support for the definition of the EGSE and final acceptance. - Participation in meetings (review) and teleconferences with the client and subcontractors (English language). • SW implementation activities. - Management of the Instrument Reference DataBase (IRDB population, including implementation of previously defined commands and telemetry packages, calibration curves and validation and maintenance activities). - Automatic test procedure (ATP) preparation for functional and instrument level tests. Main Requirement: • Degree in engineering (preferably electronics or computer science). • Experience in systems engineering (possibly in the aerospace or electro-optical instrumentation field). • Knowledge of programming languages C++, Matlab, Python,TCL, VBA. • Ability to analyse and manage requirements. • Ability to write documentation in English. • Data analysis and correlation of mathematical models to results. • Preparation of documentation: test and validation reports, specifications, test plans and procedures. • Knowledge of basic electronics. • Good knowledge of the English language. • Interdisciplinary / systems approach • Analytical skills • Communication skills for working in a team and contact with the customer/subcontractor • Fair degree of autonomy and responsibility, result orientation • Ability to plan and organise work Nice to have: • Knowledge of PUS protocol. • Knowledge of EGSE TSC environment. • Knowledge DOORS. • Knowledge of relational database management tools (SCOS-2K). • Knowledge ECSS.
